Vegan Jewellery & Newbies!

Hello everybody peeps,

This morning has seen me in the throes of emailing the world and updating my varous online presences..but Ive left the best til last of course so here I am :-)
Ive been a little frustrated recently as I havent been able to devote myself to making new things and my sketch book is now full to bursting with doodles of mermaids, anchors, starfish and general nautical stylings.
One thing I HAVE had time for however has been a new vegan branch of the shop. I discovered some lovely blue and gold pleather in my leather trunk and made some beautiful pleather feather earrings and pansy pieces:

Aside from our new vegan babies there have been some other newbies to the shop including some beautiful handbag charms/keyrings and my new favourite blue suede corsage bracelet :-)

Also keep your eyes open (or just 'Follow' me:-) as very soon I shall be announcing something a little bit exciting!
For now I shall say 'Bom Dia!' and dive into my sketch book..

The Dandy Lion Market

Hi all,

I thought it was about time I did a long overdue update and share some fab pics from my first market yesterday. The market that popped my cherry was The Dandy Lion Market held at The Boogaloo in Highgate.
This was a first-time market organised by the very lovely Leslie Wilson-Rutterford and there were some fab stalls there including Kate from Cut & Tear who had some beautiful butterfly hairclips which my friend purchased, my daughter had her arm painted by Jyoti Mehta which she absolutely loved and we were all munching on delicious pizzas by Linda all day long!

I had a wonderful day so here are some pics to give you a taste...

Necklaces were displayed on twisty branches which had been wrapped in fairy lights..

The bunny brooches wered displayed sitting on lush green 'grass' :-)

My daughter getting henna on her arm from Jyoti

 It's meeeee :-)

Cake stand display for my corsage bracelets...

So there it is..my first market and Im sure I'll be doing many more in the future. There is something quite special about making a sale first-hand its quite a thrill :-)

There were some great stalls there but if you couldn't make it here are some online shops for your shopping fix :-)

Leslie, the organiser of the market has some great vintage and handmade items in her Etsy shop (www.etsy.com/shop/microniche) I especially love this cable-knit cushion..but then Im a cushion junkie :-)

Cut & Tear has some beautiful and unsual hair accessories..pure eco-chic..I especially love these hair clips which incidentally were the ones my friend bought and came in a very clever gift bag repurposed from magazine pages:

So there you have it :-) it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be, I met some lovely people, made some sales..job done :-)

Take care all..X

A good few days..mhm!

Afternoon all,

Had a very exciting weekend..I made my first sale on Etsy woohoo! :-) Was so excited I was jumping all over the place. The precious package has now been shipped off in a beautiful rose patterned cotton gift bag and will hopefully find its new home safe and sound.
Meanwhile I have been working on some new spring/summer designs. I want to use a much paler prettier colour palette and work in finer detail which will put my scalpel skills to the test thats for sure!
Im starting to display the blisters of a hard-workin' woman :-)

Another exciting piece of information is that I got a fab write up in a very cool indie blog today called Indie Quarter:

http://www.indiequarter.com/blog/

So a big thank you to Jenny for that!

Have a wonderful week everybody peeps. I shall leave you with a pic of my newest addition..soon to be available in orange and white!

Learning On My Feet!

Hi!
Well it's been a little while since Ive done a post as Ive been busy busy filling my  Etsy jewellery shop with all manner of goodies: seahorses, octopi, butterflies, delicate crawling leaf creations.
As well as trying to design and make Ive been trying to find time to promote and market my products. This side of the business I had no idea would take up so much time. Its something I have very little experience of and have found myself learning so much as I go along about branding, marketing, re-directing traffic (feel like a lollypop lady anyone?) and generally trying to drum up business :-)
Today I have been researching how to legally run a competition on Facebook as apparently they are prone to shutting down accounts with little to no notice if the rules are breached. However the rules are not clear to a layperson like me and after some 'Googling' Ive found a link which explains it clearly and concisely. Here it is:

http://bellybeyond.blogspot.com/2010/07/facebook-competition-and-promotion.html

Unfortunately it's not straightforward and I think I will advertise the comp on Facebook, re-direct people to my lovely blog and have them enter it on here so watch this space for an amazing spectacular competition heading this way soon!
In the meantime here are some pics of my recent creations:

New Horse Jewellery!

'Lo peeps,
I have just listed some fabulous equestrian themed jewellery on my Etsy site. Ive always been a fan of all things miniature and still sneak into my daughters room sometimes to play with her awesome Sindy House so its only natural that thoughts have turned to small animals.
Not sure what I'll be tackling next but for now Im throroughly enjoying pony kitsch :-)

Angels, Fairies and Childhood Whimsy...

On my unending quest for inspiration I dug out some of my sketch books the other night and had a good dig through. I found some very pretty images of angels, fairies (Im obsessed!), hearts and stars. My favourite geeky way to disengage from the world has always been a fine line black pen and a blank page and these drawings have been a wonderful way to go back into the recesses and rediscover those innocent chilled places in my mind :-)

I have started to translate these ideas into some jewellry and have updated my shop with some pretty, childlike pieces...

If you go chasing rabbits

Here we are at the beginning of another week and just this morning my daughter and I spotted the first little yellow glimpse of the tulips poking their heads through so I guess Spring has officially sprung
Ive been doodling away thinking of designs for the shop and should hopefully have some more bits to put up in the next few days but for now I shall put on 'White Rabbit' by Jefferson Airplane and leave you with some bunny goodness from the shop to welcome in this new season :-)

Leaves, Bunnies & Hearts Galore!

Been a busy bunny today :-) lots of photography and listing action in between running to the school and back and entertaining my truly nutty mum and aunt.
They have only recently discovered Etsy (through me of course) and being life-long crafters are now itching to get their wares out into cyberspace..brace yourselves!
Meanwhile I have put some beautiful necklace and earring sets in my shop. I would definitely call them statement pieces and there are 3 choices of lush buttery leathers and designs to choose from:.
